About

Senior software engineer with eight years in production web development. Most of that has been PHP and Symfony: REST APIs, role based access control, asynchronous job processing, and the database schemas holding it all up.

The other half of the job is the interface. I led the frontend architecture on a Vue and TypeScript design system, establishing reusable components, theming and consistent UX patterns across a platform, and I am comfortable owning a feature end to end: migration, endpoint, and the screen that consumes it.

A year building internal developer tooling in C# left me measuring before optimising. Beyond that I care about code the next person can read: object oriented design done plainly, tests that earn their keep, and no cleverness without a reason.

    Senior Software Engineer

    Insure Ease, Remote

    • Designed and built the Symfony Web API for a B2B insurance quote management platform, enforcing role based access control at the endpoint level.
    • Built a JSONForms dynamic form system with custom Vue renderers, paired with a TypeScript Chrome extension that auto fills quotes across 6 provider portals.
    • Generated formatted .xlsx quote and policy documents on the fly from database driven templates using PhpSpreadsheet.

  2. 2023 – 2026

    Senior Software Engineer

    Broker Insights, Remote

    • Decoupled legacy routing into a standardised Symfony implementation covering roughly 700 routes, with middleware for request validation and security.
    • Built a PHP job processing system that polls an AWS SQS queue, runs work asynchronously and logs status to the database, taking background work off the main application.

    • Built a step by step import wizard that took an internal asset pipeline from roughly 30 minutes to 5 minutes per item.
    • Wrote an automated validation service that audits and blocks non compliant files in real time, holding the pipeline to spec.
